Before lighting the first fire, fill the fireplace with a layer of about 6 cm (play) sand or gravel.  The first few times it is better to light the fire with paper and possibly a little bit of wood, this will cause the clay to harden and create a refractory connection. After this you can fire the mexican fireplace with wood, but remember that you have to fire in moderation, for your cosiness and durability of your chiminea. 

We strongly advise against stoking the fire when it is damp. It is best to keep the fire dry and dry when using it to avoid cracks. There is no guarantee on fireplaces that have been damp when stoked.

With the delivery of this fireplace, you will receive a manual; read it carefully before use. Unfortunately, there is no warranty on any cracks in the fireplace after use.
